Stinging Pests paper wasps, yellowjackets, mud daubers

Paper wasps build the open umbrella nests under eaves and grill lids; yellowjackets nest in the ground and defend it like they mean it. Mud daubers look scary and basically never sting. Which one you have decides whether it’s a Saturday job or ours.

Signs you have them

  • Umbrella-shaped paper nests under eaves, railings, or the grill
  • Steady wasp traffic in and out of one hole in the ground
  • Organ-pipe mud tubes on walls (harmless mud daubers)

What you can do today, free

  • Treat small paper nests at dusk when workers are home and sluggish
  • Never pour gasoline in a ground nest — it poisons soil and doesn’t work
  • Leave anything bigger than your fist, or anything in a wall void, to a pro

Questions, answered straight

Wasps keep rebuilding in the same spot — why?

Old nest material carries a chemical marker that says “good site.” We remove the nest, treat the surface, and that marker with it — under the Pest Plan, with the 48-hour return if they try again.
